چکیده

Mining frequent partial orders from a collection of sequences was introduced as an alternative to mining frequent sequential patterns in order to provide a more compact/understandable representation. The motivation was that a single partial order can represent the same ordering information between items in the collection as a set of sequential patterns (set of totally ordered sets of items). However, in practice, a discovered set of frequent partial orders is still too large for an effective usage. We address this problem by proposing a method for ranking partial orders with respect to significance, which extends our previous work on ranking sequential patterns. In experiments, conducted on a collection of visits to a website of a multinational technology and consulting firm we show the applicability of our framework to discover partial orders of frequently visited webpages that can be actionable in optimizing effectiveness of web-based marketing.

Summarization Techniques for Pattern Collections in Data Mining

Discovering patterns from data is an important task in data mining. There exist techniques to find large collections of many kinds of patterns from data very efficiently. A collection of patterns can be regarded as a summary of the data. A major difficulty with patterns is that pattern collections summarizing the data well are often very large. In this dissertation we describe methods for summa...

Combined Pattern Mining: From Learned Rules to Actionable Knowledge

Association mining often produces large collections of association rules that are difficult to understand and put into action. In this paper, we have designed a novel notion of combined patterns to extract useful and actionable knowledge from a large amount of learned rules. We also present definitions of combined patterns, design novel metrics to measure their interestingness and analyze the r...

Efficiently Mining Frequent Closed Partial Orders ( Extended Abstract )

Example 1 (Motivation) Suppose MapleBank in Canada wants to investigate whether there is some orders which customers often follow to open their accounts. A database DB in Table 1 about four customers’ sequences of opening accounts in MapleBank is analyzed. Given a support threshold min sup, a sequential pattern is a sequence s which appears as subsequences of at least min sup sequences. For exa...

Discovering general partial orders in event streams

Sequence of time-ordered events arise in a variety of applications like customer transaction databases, alarm sequences in telecommunication networks, fault logs in manufacturing plant data, web interaction logs, etc. A popular framework for temporal pattern extraction from such data is the frequent episode discovery paradigm. An episode is a set of nodes with a partial order prescribed on it, ...

High Fuzzy Utility Based Frequent Patterns Mining Approach for Mobile Web Services Sequences

Nowadays high fuzzy utility based pattern mining is an emerging topic in data mining. It refers to discover all patterns having a high utility meeting a user-specified minimum high utility threshold. It comprises extracting patterns which are highly accessed in mobile web service sequences. Different from the traditional fuzzy approach, high fuzzy utility mining considers not only counts of mob...
